My goal this past week was to get one decent image of the West Virginia Capitol building using a long exposure technique. I was driving into work one morning before sunrise and there was a thick, dark, overcast sky with just small gaps in the clouds. Normally this is not the type of sky you want for a sunrise, but I decided to give it a try anyway. Thanks to some strong winds and the clouds thinning out, I was treated to a beautiful sunrise in addition to getting another long exposure photograph I'm happy with.

My original intent was to convert every image I took into black and white, but this image had too many interesting colors to do that. This sunrise is a great example of why you should still get up early and go out, even if the clouds (and weather app) are overcast and less than ideal conditions.
